Phew how time flies June already!
What a month June is bringing all the joys of the garden into bloom a crescendo of colour with a host of delectable fragrances to simply die for. Leading this collection of gorgeous plants is the ever popular flamboyant Peony.
June is the month of the Peony which are available in shades of pink, red, white and yellow. Being a perennial plant they come back year after year.
If you are lucky enough to have room in your garden to grow Peonies remember not to plant them too deeply with the crown of the plant at about the soil level, plant in plenty of sunshine and where they are not going to get battered by the wind, they are fairly tolerant of most soil types and will survive with very little attention, dead head after the flowers have faded and give them a handful of fertilizer when clearing the dead foliage in the Autumn and the Peony will reward you every year for years to come in fact possibly many years to come with some Peony plants living more than 100 years!
As a cut flower they will last around a week to ten days. Cut your Peony flowers in fairly tight bud in the early morning, trim stems and remove any foliage that is going to be under water, add a flower food to the water and place your vase of Peonies in a cool light airy room.
If you want this delicate fragrance at any time of year we have the subtle 'Peony and Blush Suede' scented soy wax candle which is a fruity floral fragrance with notes of peony and red apple. Soft and gentle!
Enjoy!
Peonies are perennials that come back every year to take your breath away. The plants may live longer than you do—some have been known to thrive for 100 years.
